Amanda Kavanagh is a multimedia artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in the Hudson River town of Dobbs Ferry, NY, along with her three sisters. Her father was a painter and advertising creative director and her mother an artist and writer. She attended Syracuse University and studied illustration and fine art, and went on to a career in graphic design. Her design background has strongly influenced her sense of color and composition in her painting. Amanda’s paintings have been featured in several New York City and east coast galleries. She is also part of a lively, web-based sketch artists community. Pages from her handmade journals have been featured in two new books, ‘An Illustrated Life: Drawing Inspiration from the Private Sketchbooks of Artists, Illustrators and Designers’ by Danny Gregory and ‘1000 Artist Journal Pages: Personal Pages and Inspirations’ by Dawn DeVries Sokol.
