Erich briefly attended The Art Institute of Chicago. He then began to work in advertising as a production artist, creating props and packaging for commercials. While working, he began to design and build furniture, producing work for private commissions. He moved to San Francisco in the summer of 2003 and started his design studio fall of 2004. Now based out of Seattle, Erich Ginder Studio partners with local artisans to create well made products that attempt to blur the line between art and design. His work focuses on finely crafted, unique pieces of functional sculpture in monochromatic, pure white resin that explore the divisions between fine art and utilitarian design.

The design series is named GHOSTS due to the representation of organic forms in white resin, which produces an ethereal, supernatural appearance, like a ghostly afterimage of the original inspiration. The GHOST series is inspired by a combination of organic forms and modern furniture.
