Welcome to the Esque shop
We welcome you to esque design glass works. Through experimentation with various forms and techniques, esque strives to achieve a coherent vision of functional home accessories, lighting, and architectural detailing. Esque's interest is in the inherent attributes of glass, which they infuse into each aspect of the living environment. The name esque refers to the suffix, and is a nod to the acknowledgment of outside influences and inspirations. The idea that they cannot create in a vacuum, so they must rely on their knowledge of the past to assemble their future.
Esque evolved through collaboration between Justin Parker and Andi Kovel. The duo has worked together for the past seven years, and together manage every aspect of esque, from design and creation to packing and shipping. Justin is one the top gaffers (head glass blowers) in the country, and is know for his knowledge and skill in making enormous pieces of glass. He has taught specialty classes throughout the states, and has been invited as gaffer at the Pilchuck Glass School for the past few years. Justin has exhibited his artwork at various venues, including the Brooklyn Museum of Art this past year. His designs have been highlighted in W magazine, Home and Garden, i.d., and Glass magazine, to mention a few. Andi Kovel is known widely for her work as a designer/glass blower, as well as an installation artist and painter. She exhibits her artwork frequently in New York and on the West Coast, and has exhibited with the likes of Claus Oldenburg, Damien Hirst, and Kiki Smith. Andi has taught for NYU, the Long Island University, Urban Glass, the University of California, and recently was a visiting artist at Parson’s School of Design. Her work has been featured in magazines including Echoes, Surface, Interior Design, The New York Times Magazine and Sculpture magazine.
