The game of chess has its origins in ancient Persia. It was brought to India during the Moghul period where it became a favorite of the rajas. This exquisite set is adapted from a 17th century royal design. Each hand-turned piece of ebony or bone is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. The set includes elegant minaret towers for king and queen and carved lotus flower rooks. A linden and rosewood board complements the pieces, which feature black felt glides and their own felt-lined wooden box.
