Perch! was founded in 2004 by Amy Adams, but her slip cast ceramic designs have been developing and gaining a following since 2001. Based on a love of simplicity of form and materials, these refreshing accessories combine the utility of industrial design with the beauty of handmade art. Amy's passion for design brought her to New York for a Masters degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute. Although her furniture was displayed at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair twice, (in 1999 and 2000), living in a 350-square foot New York studio convinced Amy of the need to make beautiful yet affordable things on a smaller scale. Amy created her signature collection by drawing on her love of ceramics from her Bachelor of Fine Arts studies at Iowa State University. A four-year working relationship with lighting designer David Weeks has helped to hone her talents in design and art, industry and craft. All of the pieces are handmade at the Perch! studio in Red Hook, Brooklyn, where Amy lives and works with her husband Jim and cat Ivy.
